Confundus, post-quantum security device

We published confundus.it (opens in a new tab), the landing page for our latest cybersecurity project. Confundus is a dedicated hardware device that protects data from cryptographic threats in the quantum era. The site went live on 3 December 2025.

What Confundus is

Confundus is a physical appliance that isolates critical cryptographic operations from the rest of the network. It connects without requiring changes to existing systems: plug it in, let it handle encryption for sensitive traffic, and run post-quantum algorithms designed to withstand quantum attacks.

We chose dedicated hardware for two concrete constraints:

  • post-quantum algorithms need much larger keys and signatures than RSA or ECC, which would overload general-purpose CPUs;
  • keeping cryptographic operations separate from the rest of the stack reduces the attack surface and makes security audits easier.

What the site covers

The landing page explains why we started the project (the quantum threat is real, not theoretical), what the device does, and the reasoning behind our architectural choices. It is a static site with no tracking, compliant with GDPR, WCAG 2.1 AA, and EAA.

Project status

Confundus is still in active development. The landing page lists the feature set and our research roadmap, but we have not set a commercial release date. We will update this blog when we reach that milestone.

Where it fits in Denovo

Cybersecurity is one of Denovo’s four R&D streams, alongside artificial intelligence, mechatronics, and blockchain. It is the only stream we run under industrial secrecy: some projects have already been filed with the Italian National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN). Confundus is the first public-facing initiative from that perimeter.

Confundus is the first public project from Denovo Srl’s in‑house cybersecurity stream: read more about our work on cybersecurity, part of an R&D programme that also covers artificial intelligence, mechatronics and blockchain.
